hey so i can't even remember when i wrote my last fleamail we've only been out on tour for about a week and a half so it cant be that long being on tour is like falling into a timeless time continuum so i have no idea what is going on the one thing i know for sure is i am sitting in a hotel room in cologne and outside my window is a beautiful river with a beautiful bridge and trains keep rolling by when the sun was setting it looked so great and there is a piano in my room
we made a video for the song 'tell me baby' and we just saw it yesterday i am so excited about it it is the best one we ever did, it was done by dayton and faris they made us the best video of our career and i cant say what it is and ruin the debut of it, not to sound so high and mighty like it is such an important thing but, i think it is the most beautiful piece of film that has ever represented us i cant wait for y'all to see it, i dont know exactly when it is coming out but it will be soon for sure
the last couple of shows have been really good for us just rockin, hitting our stride, diggin deep playing together better than we have in a while
i have been reading about these u.n conferences on the state of AIDS in the world and it makes me so sad just the fact that there are healing drugs there than can make people better yet, people are dying and sick and dont get to have any of the drugs i think about it alot i dont know much about pharmaceutical companies but one thing i know for sure is they are mighty and powerful and have a lot of money and they are in cahoots with governments at the highest levels and that people in africa and around the world are dying and sick and need the drugs and the pharmaceutical companies are holding onto the drugs that they have why the hoarding of the drugs when people who are dying need them? why there has got to be a better way surely they could part with a lot of drugs and still make money off all the people who can afford them
on another note my friend the weissmaster butterfly has a blog that is very worth reading he is a creative and eternally youthful untethered soul anyone who wants to read it can at masterbutterlyeatsyesterday@blogspot.com
i'm listening to siouxe and the banshees right now now i am listening to the tom waits it is on shuffle songs before i was listening to babs gonzales i love babs gonzales he wrote a great book called 'i paid my dues' he was a wild character who hung around with the great bop guys and he sang, scat sang and he had a group called 'three bips and a bop' there is one song he sings that is the happiest sounding song i ever heard he has another song called 'weird lullaby' i would tell you the name of the happy one but i cant remember it right now
opps now i'm listening to miles yeaah! the quintet with those wild youngsters tony williams, ron carter, herbie hancock, and wayne shorter
i watched the movie about truman capote recently and it made me think of our song 'true men dont kill coyotes' because anthony told me he first thought of those words when he was sitting in the parking lot at canters a jewish themed restaurant in los angeles and he wrote down on a piece of paper 'true men dont kill coyotes just ask my good man truman capote'
