Autos, Electricity and Icebergs posted on 05 Mar 2007 by: fred So, last week I bought a new car. Well, not exactly new, it's actually 25 years old! I bought a slick-ass 1982 VW Rabbit. It's had tons of work on it but most importantly it's set up with a fuel system to run on used Vegetable Oil (WVO). As many of you know, the global warming issue has really engaged me for a while now (and gladly much of the country as of late) and buying this car was the next step for me in a number of small changes I've been trying to make in my life. It's a sweet little car actually and I'm sad because I won't get to drive it until we get back from tour in April. So anyway, this all seemed very fateful when the TBS guys and I arrived a few days ago in Norman, OK, only to find that we were double-booked in the venue with a live presentation of Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth". WOW!!! If you still haven't seen his movie you should definitely sit down and watch it. The third time through, I still learned things. Hopefully, you all know that I'm not the kind of person to shout out what you or anyone else should or shouldn't be doing. We all have our own beliefs. But I really feel that the issue of Global Warming is not a political issue, it's strictly an issue of our survival in the near future. And it's plain scientific fact. Last time I wrote about this, I heard some comments of despair- people writing that they don't want to know about Global Warming because it depresses them. The truth is that the more we know, the more hope we all have. We can definately change the course of this issue if we start now. Making very small changes in your life can add up and make a big difference. When I was a kid, I remember when my town first started recycling on trash day. My parents were totally up in arms because it seemed like it was going to be too much trouble, but nowadays, it's just something we do. It's become habit. These are the kind of minor changes that can give the planet a future. Of course, no one expects you to go buy a crazy 25 year old car like I did. I know that's ridiculous. But the little things... Google it, you'll find ways, check climatecrisis.net...or just watch the movie.

WEEK TWO!!! posted on 05 Mar 2007 by: matt I write to you today from yet another hotel room in DES MOINES, IOWA. I woke up at 6am today which i never do if i can avoid it and did my laundry while watching 'a raisin in the sun' followed by a documentary about the ALI/FOREMAN fight in Africa years ago. NOt a bad score while unwillingly being awake at off hours. Then i scarfed some breakfast and passed out just in time to swallow the last bit of eggs and fold the last pair of socks. Dont ever call me a rockstar. Im starting to get nervous that if this tour gets any better that Im going to have to start taking depressants to calm down. We are making out way west (sort of) and seem to be going in and out of warm climates. But every show has been great and on behalf of UNDEROATH and ARMOR FOR SLEEP we thank you. SAN ANTONIO was the first (and i believe only?) outdoor show on the tour and it was great to see so many people for the first time there. It was great meeting everyone after the show and we will surely be back as soon as we can, and hopefully to EL PASO to everyone that suggested we play there. DALLAS. We played in Dallas twice this year (maybe more, i cant remember) and they were both fairly large shows so we were so excited to see so many people come out to see us. The energy coming off of the crowd made that show a lot of fun for us. We were also visited by a new friend of ours Mr. TOM ARAYA of SLAYER. Im not kidding. He brought his whole family down and it was an honor to have such a master of metal in our presence. I know Ed and Fred were a little nervous that night. We also had The EISLEY gang in the place and I was treated to a sneak preview (preHEAR?) of their new album and it is amazing. what did you expect? Soaring harmonies, bold new sounds, and fierce rocking. Beware its awesomeness. Then onward to what was a show we will never forget at the UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA in NORMAN. You can find out about it in FRED'S most recent post right on top of this one. We got to meet AL GORE and see him do his "AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH" presentation in person. In a way he sort of opened for us. I mean, its a stretch to put it that way, but it really makes for a better story. ST LOUIS, MO has always been a great place for shows even though as ADAM mentioned onstage that "we were literally the only people at out first show here". ADAM also lectured on the ways for young bands to survive on the road with the magical (and free) condiment supply of his favorite eatery and cheap pasta. I met tons of nice people while walking around THE LOOP and had one of the best burgers ever at BLUEBERRY HILL. I also got a sweet hoodie at a place across from THE PAGEANT called LILY'S (i think?). Thanks to all the vastly underdressed people who waited outside after the show to say hello to us. It gave me a chance to use our new MEGAPHONE. Although THE EAGLES BALLROOM totally creeps me out I have to say that MILWAUKEE does not. One of my favorite shows of the tour by far. The freezing cold weather was an afterthought once we got onstage and felt everyone singing and screaming along with us. Again I also want to thank everyone for coming and waiting outside before the show. Trust me, it is COOL to wear a coat. Especially if you live in these frosty climates. ST PAUL was another interesting night. Less a rock venue and more a HIP HOP VIP type club, we had a great last show of the week. Im going to try to post it on here so you all can see it but we had an amazing photographic moment upstairs. BILLY LEE, MATT S, K BONE, ANGEL and I got our picture taken with (CGI) LIL WAYNE. LIL WAYNE is flipping the bird in it so its a really classy shot as you can imagine. Is this the kind of thing that is going on in these clubs that i never go to? I guess so. Onward to warmer places for a few days and then CANADA. ATTENTION to whoever is in charge of the weather up there- PLEASE GET YOUR #^@% TOGETHER!! We cannot sustain ourselves in negative degree temperatures without proper HOTH-wear and Taun-Tauns. Until next time. Road Update

Thanks to everyone who has come out to the shows this week and for making them such great experiences for us.

I write you now from the hotel lobby in San Antonio where it is a nice 78 degrees (outside, not in the lobby). Compared to COLUMBUS' freezing rain and snow its a nice change. But that weather didnt stop O-H....I-O!!! from being an incredible audience the other night. ARMOR FOR SLEEP was particularly kickass that night and I enjoyed their set even as Adam was throwing quarters at me from the other side of the stage. Thanks to the lone stage crasher during our encore. The look on your face...priceless.

Similarly cold but unflappable was the crowd at EMU (a show dubbed EMO at EMU...((*ahem*)) by one attendee I met outside). We then headed down south to our first show in Birmingham, Alabama in nearly 3 years. Warm weather, a huge, frenetic crowd and one beard later*, we played one of our favorite shows of the tour so far.

*Graham, UNDEROATH'S merch-master was issued a bet 1 year ago to the day. The bet: to grow a beard -no trimming allowed- for 1 year. Fred and I were given the honor of the ceremonial shaving onstage in the middle of UNDEROATH'S set. That for me was a personal first. Graham now looks like a totally different dude. Go say hi to him and ask him to show you the huge bag of hair that was previously his beard. It was easily 8 inches long at its longest point!!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to the Birmingham show...apparently you helped us set a new attendance record at the venue that was previously held by...wait for it...LED ZEPPLIN!! WTF?!?!?! We owe it all to you guys, thank you for coming to see us all.

Tomorrow night we will be rocking in the warm night air of SAN ANTONIO so come on down and get melted.

So here we are, backstage at the Bryce Jordan Center on the first day of the tour and I cannot wait to play. I met our bus driver today and he is a great guy from Nashville named MICK YAEGER and hopefully, as he warms up to me over the course of the tour he'll either let me call him CHUCK YEAGER (the first man to break the sound barrier, which hopefully will not happen while he drives the bus), or MICK JAGGER (infamous big lipped sexy moving singer for THE ROLLING STONES).
We have reunited with our friends in UNDEROATH and although I know ARMOR FOR SLEEP is in the building, I have yet to see them. We are muching away at our now all-oganic rider and recycling like madmen. We've been rehearsing for the last two days and as I said before there will be some suprises for both long time and new listeners. It has been fun walking around and pretending Im in college for the last 2 days here in Penn State. I would like to Thank Dan at THE DINER for delicious eats and taking care of us while rehearsing.
3 hours and counting until rock time...

We have arrived to our first "city"- College Park, PA. Everyone here's looking pretty tired the morning after Mardi Gras but not us! We're all rehearsed, shined up and ready for the first show of our North American tour. I, for one, am having alot of fun playing this setlist. We're rocking some songs that we haven't played in years and a couple that this lineup has never even played live. Tomorrow we meet up with UO and AFS. Can't sleep.....

Na szóval, tegnap írtam,h Adam eljegyezte Valentin napon a barátnőjét Chauntelle-t,aki az Eisley együttesben gitározik.

A történet úgy  kezdődött,h. 2006 márciusában a TBS és az Eisley együtt mentek Austriáliába,aztán májusban együtt mentek Angliába is. Adam és Matt kötöttek egy egyezséget,hogy nem flörtölnek az Eisley-s lányokkal így csupán bartáság volt Chauntelle és Adam között.Aztán vége lett a turnénak.A távolság és 6 hónapnyi telefonálgatás során a kapcsolatuk különlegessé vált,s 3 hónappal ezelőtt Adam elköltözött New Yorkból Texasba és tovább udvarolgatott Chauntellenek,majd 2007.febr.4-én megkérte  kezét, ő pedig igent mondott!!

hello, anyone there??

I am sorry journal for i have neglected you in this my time of off-ness. For that, I am sorry. BUT im back in a big (5'6") way. We have been getting the pre-tour jitters and boy do we have something special in store for you. We have been combing the archives and gathering a new batch of old songs to puh-lay for you. We realize that while we cant play ALL the songs you may want to hear EVERY night, that we have neglected some of your favorites and we are rehearsing some things that we think you will enjoy...including a 5 Tuba rendition of "Head Club". Ok maybe not that. We hope you do enjoy what we will be bringing to the stage. Its been a while since we've played the good ol' U S and A so we're excited. As they say, America - Fuck Yeah.

So how have you been? Ive been good. Today, I did 16 interviews for College newspapers. All at the same time on 1 huge mega-conference call. It was a lot of fun and some interesting topics came up. Thanks to all for your questions. Some of the interesting points...

-which ninja turtle do you most identify with? (Donatello)

-Is it true that Adam can perform ALL the postions in the Kama Sutra? (Contrary to popular belief I have never had sex with Adam, but i have great faith in his flexibility)
